Fun and Flavourful: The Jamaica Food and Drink Festival

By Alicia Loredo

On October 26, there will be a whole lot of mouth-watering goodness happening in Kingston thanks to the Jamaica Food and Drink Festival. The Jamaican gastronomic experience will showcase an array of gourmet food and drinks, with over 40 celebrated chefs and culinary personalities representing.

In the span of five days, festival goers can discover new authentic cuisine at events like Pork Palooza’s Licensed to Thrill, where chefs will execute all things “swine.” Savour the crisp pork belly as you watch top chefs get creative by adding their own flare to their given cut piece of pork. If you’re in the mood for something exotic, the Crisp Fare & Beer event brings in a blend of crispy, fried and exotic, with dishes like Korean barbecue shrimp or juicy pan tenderloin that pair perfectly with a refreshing ice-cold beer.

If fancy is your style, head to Vintage for the celebration of Mondavi 50. Guests can nosh on hors d’oeuvre and decadent desserts with their choice of Mondavi wines. You can also get down-and-grilling with the Stix & Stones’ Skewers and Spirits event, which will bring bold flavours to skewered meats and seafood complimented with traditional spirits. The festival will also exhibit plenty of food trucks, all gathered under the sparkling lights of Barbican Beach, giving family and friends a plethora of options on wheels. Ending the festivities is the Sunday Brunch at the Gallery, An Affair Privé, which will incorporate a blend of culinary mastery and works of art on display.

Good food, drinks and music are all you need to make your days memorable during your stay in Jamaica.
