Weddings

The land of One Love is amongst the most popular locations for a destination wedding. Whether you dream of reciting your vows by a romantic waterfall or whilst burrowing your toes in the sand, Jamaica is the place to turn your fantasies into reality.

Resorts islandwide are staffed with veteran wedding planners who can keep you focused on what matters most about the big day; handling everything from marriage licences to make-up artist appointments and any other detail required to realise your vision.

Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios is one such place that offers the ultimate romantic experience to guests from all over the world. In addition to its beautiful location and luxurious private island, perfect for hosting weddings, “We take care of every detail… the marriage licence application, expert guidance in planning bachelor and bachelorette parties, wedding rehearsals, dinners and group activities,” explains Kinisha Dell, Couples Resorts Regional Sales Manager of the Caribbean. “For the Couples team, this is not a job, it is a love.”

At Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa in Montego Bay, come for the setting and stay for the service! Boasting an exclusive oceanfront location with access to the longest white-sand beach in Jamaica, wedding packages include photography and videographer services, florists, hair and make-up services, and so much more, all customised to meet your needs.

For couples who may wish to go off resort for their special day, Jennifer Borgh offers a fully serviced, magical wedding at her exclusive Borghinvilla Wedding Venue. Just think for a minute about “two acres of lush tropical gardens, beach and cliff view of the endless Caribbean Sea,” all to yourself for the entire day.

“We welcome any amazing vendors in Jamaica to work at Borghinvilla, with no additional vendor fees to couples,” she clarifies, just in case you wish to use a caterer, DJ, florist, photographer or beverage provider of your choice. The Borghinvilla team also prides itself on accommodating the traditions and customs of any culture and particularly boasts a speciality in traditional Indian weddings.

Equally, the Jamaica Pegasus has accommodated many cultural weddings. Their philosophy of inclusion follows the Jamaican motto “Out of Many, One People,” which depicts a melting pot of different races and religions. “Our executive chef has been able to provide customised menus in keeping with the cultural traditions,” says Group Director of Marketing and Sales, Nicola Madden-Greig.

“We work with local décor companies to create memorable and beautiful themes to suit the taste of the wedding party, and we help to coordinate with the respective Ministers of religion.”

There are numerous caterers available in Jamaica, including chef and owner of Simo’s Bread & Catering, Christina Simonitsch, who grew up in the food and hospitality business and is very experienced at catering for destination weddings. Shying away from big-numbered buffet lines, she prefers to keep a more elegant and intimate plated-service wedding, at no more than 50 people, but she will go up to 75 if it’s just hors d’oeuvres. “I specialise in Italian-French fusion with Jamaican, using as many local products as possible and elevating Jamaican flavours like jerk and sorrel into a fine-dining experience,” she gushes with passion. If the date is open, all Simonitsch needs is a few weeks’ notice and she will get the job done.

No celebration is complete without libations. Who better to ensure that thirst be quenched than JHTA member Indulge Concierge, which has been endorsed by reputable villa agents for their professionalism and reliability. Run by Terry Groves and her son Andrew, this pair will handle every beverage whim you might have at your villa and destination wedding. “I will deal with each client on a one-to-one basis once contact is made via email,” Groves says. The Groves have a comprehensive list of what they provide on their website, which is where you can order and pay securely for everything. “Anything that’s not on our website or not available on the island, I will personally try and find a suitable replacement,” she promises.

Whatever your wedding dream, Jamaica offers an awe-inspiring landscape and expert wedding professionals who can make your dreams come true.
