The Legacy Lives On

This week marked 35 years after Bob Marley’s death. Robert Nesta Marley died at the age of 36 on May 11th, 1981.

Singer, artist and prolific songwriter, an infinite list of artistic accomplishments and collaborations position Bob Marley as one of the most significant and influential artists of the 20th century. But he was as much musical and political prodigy as he was a global spiritual force. Through his undeniable charisma, his profound devotion to the principals of Rastafari and his steadfast love for his Jamaican roots, Bob Marley became a symbol and a prophet for the oppressed communities of the Caribbean and for communities and ethnicities across all continents. His message grooved beautifully and gracefully between the vivid world of island escapism and a profound awareness of the urgent need for justice and social change.

Thirty five years later, his legacy and powerful influence continue to inspire millions into music, poetry and activism.
