It’s after 5 somewhere: five cocktails to try while in Jamaica

There is no better way to enjoy Jamaica than in the sun and the sand with a drink in your hand. Whether you fancy a frozen tropical favourite or an intriguing handcrafted signature cocktail, Jamaica has many tempting offers.

Margaritaville

Montego Bay

Always popular, Margaritaville was designed to be an oasis for relaxation, so come, lounge for a while, dance on the famous sunset patio, enjoy a cheeseburger in paradise, take a splash down the water slide or marvel at the sunset from the terrace. A visit would be incomplete without enjoying a margarita, either ice cold or as a frozen concoction.

Rick’s Cafe

Negril

One of the sexiest bars in the Caribbean, Rick’s Cafe is a cliffside slice of paradise serving up a non-stop party atmosphere. Feeling adventurous? Try out “Rick’s World Famous Rum Punch”: a delectable combination of rum and fruit juices. Or go for a spin on an old favourite, the “Rasta-politan”: vodka, Triple Sec, cranberry and a squeeze of lime.

Pier 1

Montego Bay

Located on a picturesque peninsula overlooking the Harbour and the city, Pier 1 makes you feel as if you were aboard a ship as you sip your drinks. More attraction than a restaurant, this establishment serves up a variety of fresh seafood, while the bar offers favorite frozen drink flavors alongside tropical margaritas and Pier 1 specialties like the “Dirty Banana” or “Sex on the Pier”.

John Crow’s Tavern

Ocho Rios

Come for the food, stay for the libations. John Crow’s serves up all the fan favourites so you’re sure to find something for every palate on the cocktails list. The brightly-painted and terraced building overlooks the main street in Ocho Rios and is a must for visitors and locals.

Blend Bar and Lounge

Kingston

Blend isn’t your typical bar. Its understated elegance offers the opportunity for intimate conversations over a few drinks or a bite to share against a backdrop of soothing hues and music. Don’t leave without trying the “Blend” – the signature cocktail of Appleton Special alongside the sweetness of peach, pineapple and strawberry flavours.
